2023 Santa Cruz Mountains Tour Photos

Yesterday’s tour through the Santa Cruz Mountains was fabulous. Mark did a wonderful job of planning a challenging but spectacular route and organizing an enjoyable event for all. We had 19 Porsches.

The main route started at the Anna Jean Cummings County Park in Soquel, made a big loop through the Santa Cruz Mountains, and finished at Bruno’s Bar and Grill in Scotts Valley. We initially headed north on Soquel San Jose Rd and then east towards the summit, making a pit stop at the Summit Store. We proceeded up Summit Rd, crossing Highway 17 at the top.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Summit Rd/Highway 35 narrows to not much more than a single lane and, in addition to navigating tight turns, drivers had to watch out for on-coming cars. We turned left on to Bear Creek Rd and continued for another 10 miles with more turns. Some sections of Bear Creek Rd were washed out, causing us to stop at single lane, traffic light controlled sections.

Finally, we reached Boulder Creek and Highway 9. Traffic was congested – to be expected on a Sunday afternoon – and the group got split up. We regrouped at the Highlands County Park, our final pit stop.

Lunch was at Bruno’s Bar and Grill in Scotts Valley. Mark was able to reserve the entire terrace for our group. The setting was perfect, although there was a delay in getting some of our meals served.

All in all, it was a wonderful way to a spend a Sunday with our Porsches and fellow aficionados.
