2024 Springtime Sojourn Photos

For the Springtime Sojourn, we met at the Windmill Market in San Juan Bautista on a sunny day, Then we headed to Highway 25 in two groups, led by Ted Voigt and Mark McMahon.  Once we got to Highway 25 we headed south through green countryside with occasional cows and California poppies.

It was National Parks Day, with free entry to national parks, so the Highway 146 turnoff going to the Pinnacles was backed up onto Highway 25 and we had to go around the backed up traffic.  Once we reached Bitterwater Road, we turned west and went downhill towards the cloud bank resting in the Salinas Valley.

A gathering of Porsches in King City – by Vega Roecker

By the time we reached King City the clouds were parting and blue sky was showing through.  We parked in the courtyard behind the Cork and Plough restaurant, where we had lunch reservations.  We had chosen our entrees in advance, and Ted had arranged flower decorations for the tables.

After a delicious lunch, we headed north on Metz Road until we reached Soledad, where we turned west again and crossed the freeway on our way to the Soledad Mission.  Ted had arranged petit fours for us at the Mission.  The Mission has a rose garden, a chapel and a museum, and the rest of the mission is a building project.

Mark presented a donation from the club to the Mission.  After everyone had time to view the Mission, Mark led some members of the group north to Wrath Winery to sample some of their excellent wines.
