I am pleased to announce that we will host an Oktoberfest event on November 4th. Best of all is that we will celebrate Oktoberfest with our neighbors to the north – the Loma Prieta Region. Our destination is the Carmel Valley Community Youth Center where we will celebrate with beer, brats and potato salad. The celebration will be preceded by an optional driving tour.
Prior to the event, we will host our own Cars and Coffee event on the morning of November 4th at the Chili’s Restaurant in Seaside (1349 Canyon Del Rey Blvd – maps.app.goo.gl/ufwaeYzkT94vpGyz5) where that group usually meets. Let’s begin at 8am for social time. To enable plenty of time for our neighbors in the North to join us, we will not hold the driver’s meeting until 9:30 with the first group of cars heading out on the Tour to Oktoberfest at 9:45. I expect there will be 2-3 groups due to the potential number of cars.
The Tour will head out Canyon del Rey Blvd to the end at Hwy 68. Turning left, we will go east on Hwy 68 until we exit at River Road. Then we will regroup and head south on River Road where we will stop once again at Mission Soledad (36641 Fort Romie Rd – maps.app.goo.gl/tfpAh8qz65Te4zQs6). Its possible some members of Loma Prieta Region may elect to join us there. After a short stop, we will continue on Arroyo Seca Road until it becomes Carmel Valley Road and turns west. Then we will enjoy the wonderful twists and turns along the Carmel River as we drive back to Carmel Valley. We will drive through the Carmel Valley Village and pass the Community Park where our Concours in Paradise is held. Soon after passing the park, make a right turn onto Ford Road. Drive just a few hundred yards and turn into the parking lot of the Community Center Complex where we will hold our Oktoberfest Celebration.
For the luncheon, we will feature wurst (sausages), German cabbage, 3 types of salad, bread and soft drinks. Price is $35 per person.
Beer and wine will be served but must be purchased in advance due to county law. Price is $5 per glass/bottle. Soft drinks or water is free.
Dessert is a slice of apple pie (no charge).
There will be a Porsche Trivia quiz during the luncheon which will be hosted by Dave Terdy. Some of the questions will relate to things on the Tour, so participants in the Tour will have an advantage when it comes to winning the quiz.
