Last Saturday’s Christmas Party was one of the best. We had 80 attendees. The location, Porter’s Grill at Poppy Hills, was perfect. Their staff did a great job. The weather cooperated.
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Ted Voigt who did a fantastic job organizing the event. His attention to detail is amazing. Did you notice the centerpieces on each table? He had a good group of members helping him.
In Ted’s own words:
I am very happy, that the MBR Christmas party turned to be such a successful and fun event. Judging from the reaction of those I spoke with, everyone seemed to have had great time. It involved numerous people taking on different responsibilities in order to make it all come together.
Our core committee was comprised of – Kristi Jordan, Michael Hesse, Paul Sedillos, Vega Roecker and Ted Voigt. We met a few times to come up with the initial vision, planning, preparation and coordination needed for everything to properly come together at the end.
Dave Aliotti’s input as ‘Cuisine Consultant’ was very helpful in deciding on the various menu choices.
The musical group involved Sargis Atanous – drums, Andrew Atanous – bass guitar, and Therese Hesse- keyboard. Michael Hesse – song leader. EJ Thomas was the MC, choreographer, and energetic director of the group.
Richard Chew handled all the very important technical aspects of the whole event, including member signups, payments and menu selections/adjustments along the way. Something new, and which our Club has never attempted before, was the creation of an interesting slide show, highlighting each of the many events held during the year.
Tony Prock was our roving photographer capturing various highlights of the evening. Vega Roecker also contributed photos.
Milla Skowron designed the very attractive ‘Save the Date’ announcement/poster.
Dave Kite is who I like to call our ‘Special Projects’ manager. Dave single-handedly, and personally, designed and hand crafted each of the 80+ beautiful Porsche ornaments. He also created the engraved flask and coaster set for the silent auction.
And of course, our Fun & Happiness manager, Mr. Santa Claus himself, Loren Bollinger, did an awesome job with a party ending surprise visit. He was his usual jovial and happy self, distributing Dave Kite’s attractive wooden Porsche mementos much to everyone’s surprise and appreciation.
Finally, but certainly not least, kudos to Monica Nathan for suggesting, organizing, and operating our Silent Auction. No small task. Many items were quite unusual and very well received.
I am truly grateful for all the help I received in pulling this off. As usual, if one takes care of the small things the big things take care of themselves. The enthusiastic response made it all worth while. I am genuinely pleased and relieved that all went so well.
Best regards,
Ted
