SUMMARY:2026 Night at the Races
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT UPDATE: It is with great disappointment that I have t
 o announce our Night at the Races event is cancelled.\n\nI am happy to rep
 ort that we are going to Watsonville Speedway for a Night at the Races. Af
 ter some discussions with the new track manager and the fairgrounds team\,
  we have agreed on a new date—August 28th\, a Friday.\n\nWe will meet at
  2:00 Friday afternoon at Chili’s in Seaside. There will be some folks v
 isiting the restaurant for lunch\, so please park away from the front entr
 ance. After a quick drivers’ meeting\, we will depart at 2:30 and drive 
 together to Watsonville Speedway\, where we will be directed to a special 
 entrance. Our group will be placed on the lawn right across from the main 
 gate to the track so all incoming visitors will be able to see our cars. T
 ed and I will be arranging the cars in a nice pattern so there is room bet
 ween them for visitors to walk.\n\nNote - this is a very family-oriented e
 vent and kids are welcome. Because of this\, we understand if you want to 
 drive your Porsche SUV or other SUV or van. That is not a problem\, but un
 derstand that we will only be parking Porsche sports cars on the lawn. Mem
 bers with alternate vehicles will park in the main parking lot (since we a
 re arriving early\, you will still be close to the entrance).\n\nAll the c
 ars parked on the lawn should be in place by 4pm when the visitors arrive 
 . If you want\, bring a folding chair or two to enjoy the afternoon at our
  “private car show.” Make sure your sports car looks good as I anticip
 ate many questions from other track guests including children about our ca
 rs\, which should be a lot of fun! Note there will be qualifying and pract
 ice sessions on the dirt track beginning about 4:30. The main events will 
 begin at 6pm so we should be seated about that time in our reserved locati
 on in the grandstands. Racing ends at 9:30 so we can get home before it is
  too late.\n\nThe track serves food and drinks for all to enjoy. They acce
 pt credit cards at the bar\, but only cash at the snack bar. So\, please b
 ring cash if you choose to purchase food. Of course\, this is track food p
 repared in a snack bar\, so if you are on a restricted diet\, please bring
  something with you.\n\nEach Porsche sports car attending will receive one
  free ticket to the races. Other members in these cars and those parking o
 utside will purchase tickets at the box office as needed. I believe admiss
 ion is $20 per person\, possibly less for children. If you have questions\

 mber of our members who can attend but we need you to register so we can t
 ell the track manager how many of us will attend. I hope to see many of yo
