It’s complicated! This event was a replacement for our Annual Tour to Big Sur originally scheduled for February but cancelled due to a huge storm which made the roads impassable. The Big Sur River Inn could not accommodate us – so Mark found the Big Sur Taphouse. Due to space limitations, the tour was divided into two events – the second scheduled for October 13th. A big thanks goes out to Mark for all of his efforts!
When I checked the weather for Big Sur on Sunday morning, it showed high 70s during the day. I dutifully put the top down and wore a short sleeve shirt. What a mistake! Leaving our meeting place at The Crossroads, it was cold and foggy and continued that way until we were south of the Bixby Bridge. At least, the stop light at Rocky Creek did not cause much of a delay. We made a pit stop at the Taphouse before continuing south.
Our destination was another 15 minutes or so to where Highway 1 was close. Fortunately, the traffic was relatively light. Mark had checked the spot out the week before and found that there was plenty of parking space for our Porsches. We had the area to ourselves. After hanging out awhile and taking a group photo, we headed back north to the Taphouse for lunch.
The Taphouse was great! It’s small but had a wonderful deck upstairs and good food. It did take awhile to get everyone served their individual orders.
Heading home was definitely slower. All in all, it was nice way to spend a Sunday with other Porsche enthusiasts.
