May 2025 Membership Meeting

The membership meeting on May 5th featured a guest speaker who is the CEO of Laguna Seca Racetrack – Lauri Eberhart, introduced by Ted Voigt. Lauri comes from North Carolina where she was legal counsel for Charlotte Motor Speedway and Speedway Motorsports, and has been here about a year. Her background has been with oval tracks, so a road course like Laguna Seca was a new experience for her.

She spoke of the history of Laguna Seca and of the plans that Friends of Laguna Seca have for the track – upgrading the customer and racer experience with driver pavilions, upgraded seating, areas for shopping and dining, improved parking and paying attention to the three “T’s” – tickets, traffic end toilets. The racetrack has signed a deal with Porsche to be the Laguna Seca featured car, and Porsche will be having a Porsche Driving Experience at the track in the Fall.

The FLS board is also discussing having other types of events at the track, from go-karts to a recreation of the Pope’s visit, perhaps with a Popemobile.  The camping facilities will be upgraded, perhaps with some glamping added.  Since the track belongs to the county, cut-rate tickets will be offered for those who qualify.

The meeting was a full house, with members all interested in future plans for the racetrack.
