PCA Perfomance Driving Events — High Performance Driver’s Ed, AutoX, and Club Racing — Amazing ways to enhance your experience of owning a Porsche!
Discussion and Q&A Session with Alan Friedman
Alan was the key person that started Porsche Club Racing. This will be a great opportunity to learn some inside information about enhancing your experience with your Porsche. We will start at 6PM. Details will follow!
Some info about Alan:
At last Fall’s Rennsport VI, and 2015’s Rennsport V, the PCA Club Race group was the “Sholar-Friedman Cup”. Bill Sholar was the gentlemen who started PCA, and Alan Friedman, who recently relocated to Carmel Valley and transferred to Monterey Bay Region, is the founder of the PCA Club Racing program.
Alan bought his first Porsche in 1975, did his first PCA high performance Driver’s Ed event that same year, and the rest is history. He became a Potomac Region driving instructor, Region president, assistant Parade Chairman (1979), Chief Driving Instructor, Driver’s Ed program chairman, Zone 2 Rep., and National Safety Committee Chairman. He transitioned from Driver’s Ed to vintage racing in 1987 (with a 1967 ex-trans am 911). Starting in 1990 he designed and launched the PCA Club Racing program, which soon became the largest single marque road racing program in the world. He was the first Chairman of of the program from 1992-1997, and a Chief Steward through 2007. Today he continues to race his 1973 RSR (clone) in vintage and PCA races, and also campaigns a 1972 Chevron B21 sports racer in vintage events, including the Rolex Historics.
The meeting with start with updates on activities in the region and getting to know one another. And, of course, eating pizza.
